About the Instructor: Ruth Bourke, BSc
Ruth Bourke’s career in removable prosthodontics began over 25 years ago under the guidance of Dr. John Besford. Ruth first served as senior technician and instructor at both the Eastman Postgraduate Dental Institute and the Royal London Hospital Medical College. She later joined the academic staff of Manchester Metropolitan University as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Materials Science, where she taught implantology, complex partial denture design, and complete denture occlusion. Ruth moved to the United States to take the post of Oral-Maxillofacial Prosthetic Technician at the University of Washington. Prior to opening her own laboratory, RE Bourke, LLC this year, she established and managed the removables department at Protea Dental Studio in Redmond, Washington.
Ruth regularly lectures and teaches courses in the field of dental technology both in the U.S. and abroad, and is widely becoming recognized as one of the top experts in denture aesthetics. Ruth has also collaborated with dental manufacturer Davis Schottlander & Davis Ltd. to produce the Enigma Denture System, which won the Queens Award for Industry in 2004.

American Dental Supply/Leach & Dillon is now offering two stand-alone denture courses by Ruth Bourke B.Sc. (Hons LBIST).
These courses are designed to be taken either as an individual one-day class or a comprehensive two-day class.
Each class is 8 CE Credits or take both classes for a total of 16 CE Credits!

~ ENIGMA TEETH SETTING CLASS ~
8 CE Credits
This “hands-on” class is intended as a foundational class for technicians new to setting teeth. Participants will set a Class 1 - complete upper and lower denture in balanced occlusion using Enigma teeth. Linqualized occlusion will also be demonstrated. All materials and models will be provided, however, the participant is responsible for safety clothing, and personal laboratory tools.
Educational Objectives: By the end of the class, participants should be able to:
- Have an understanding of complete denture occlusion
- Be able to access articulated models & set teeth to a balanced occlusion
- Choose and set teeth to look natural
- Use an Alma Gauge to fabricate a dimensionally accurate wax rim
~ ENIGMA WAXING CLASS ~
8 CE Credits
This “hands-on” class will focus on anatomical waxing techniques for natural looking dentures. Participants will wax an upper denture with Enigma teeth. Ruth will also demonstrate the application of Enigma Color Tones. All materials will be provided. Some previous waxing experience is recommended for this class.
Educational Objectives: By the end of the class, participants should be able to:
- Have an understanding of oral anatomy and gingival architecture
- Choose and set teeth to look natural
- Be able to wax gums utilizing the “s” curve technique, sponge stippling, and wax additive techniques
- Apply gingival color tones to match a Caucasian gum shade
